International Society of Arboriculture

The ISA Certified Tree Climber credential is a sign to the public, employers, and peers that a tree care professional has achieved a fundamental level of knowledge and skills needed to climb trees and perform arboricultural work in a safe and efficient manner. As a voluntary program, earning this title shows a professional’s commitment to a professional code of ethics, safety best practices in the industry, and continuing education.

ISA Certified Arborists Utility Specialist®

International Society of Arboriculture

This certification is tailored for ISA Certified Arborists® working in utility vegetation management. It focuses on areas such as electric utility pruning, program management, integrated vegetation management, electrical knowledge, customer relations, and storm response. Candidates must be ISA Certified Arborists® with a minimum of 2,000 hours of experience over two years in electric utility vegetation management or have served as consultants to utilities with at least 4,000 hours over a maximum 10-year period.

ISA Certified Urban Forest Professional™

International Society of Arboriculture

Formerly known as the Municipal Specialist, this credential is designed for professionals managing urban tree populations. The certification assesses knowledge in communication skills, public relations, policy and planning, administration, risk management, and arboricultural practices.

ISA Board Certified Master Arborist® (BCMA)

International Society of Arboriculture

The BCMA is the highest level of certification offered by ISA, recognizing ISA Certified Arborists® who have reached the pinnacle of their profession. Candidates must pass an extensive scenario-based exam and adhere to a Code of Ethics, ensuring quality of work. Fewer than two percent of all ISA Certified Arborists® currently hold this certification.

ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ)

International Society of Arboriculture

TRAQ is a voluntary qualification program designed to train and assess candidates in tree risk assessment. It provides professionals with a standardized, systematic approach for assessing tree risk and offering relevant information to tree owners and risk managers. To obtain the TRAQ credential, candidates must complete a training course and pass both a comprehensive written assessment and a performance-based assessment.

Continuing Education Units

How to Apply for Continuing Education Units (CEU's) for Your Upcoming Program

The Western Chapter ISA has taken the responsibility of assigning continuing education hours (CEUs) for educational programs in the states of Arizona, California, Hawaii and Nevada. We would be pleased to assign CEU numbers to programs you present if they are applicable. Offering credit for your programs can make them more attractive to potential attendees and registrations may be increased.
