Paradise Valley Country Club seeking Tree Service Technican - Paradise Valley, AZ 7/2/2010

Paradise Valley Country Club is currently hiring a full time Tree Service Technician to work with our Golf Course Maintenance team. The tree service technician will care for the propertys trees through careful pruning, by securing large or breaking branches, by diagnosing and treating pest invasions, and by fertilizing trees when necessary. The technician will work alongside others in order to install, remove and/or maintain healthy trees. The essential functions of the position are as follows:

Prune, trim and reshape trees in accordance with tree care standards using power saws, hand saws and pruners.
Evaluate trees for disease and pest problems.
Repair breaking branches by securing cables and braces to large limbs.
Fertilize trees.
Plan and develop budgets for tree maintenance.
Collect debris and refuse from tree trimming and removal operations into piles, using shovels, rakes or other tools.
Inspect trees for disease or pest problems and implement health care initiatives.
Spray trees to treat diseased or unhealthy trees, including mixing chemicals and calibrating spray equipment.
Cut away dead and excess branches from trees, or clear branches around power lines, trimming from a ladder not to exceed 8 feet, and/or using chainsaws, hooks, handsaws, shears, and clippers.
Water, root-feed, and fertilize trees.
Transplant and remove trees and shrubs, and prepare trees for moving.

The position reports directly to our Golf Course Superintendent with a dotted line to our Assistant Superintendents.
We are looking for an experienced, Certified Tree Care Worker with 1+ years experience with a reputable tree care company. Additionally, the individual must possess the following physical skills:

Have the ability to use dangerous power tools and powerful chemicals and lifting (up to 75 lbs), twisting, and climbing.
Comfortable with heights, power tools, ladders, and ropes.
Analytical and willing to take time to sort out a problem and find the right solutions. Must be comfortable working with a team, and following orders.
Good communication skills, a level head, and be able to work well even under pressure.
Overall good physical shape, as the job can call for a lot of dangerous and challenging roles.
