Certification For Tree Workers

PURPOSE
- To establish a meaningful standard of skill and work quality in trained and knowledgeable Tree Workers.
- To establish and measure a minimum level of training and knowledge for arboricultural workers.
- To encourage continuing education for those who work in Arboriculture.
- To promote safe work practices and safety as a frame of mind.

- Contract specifications are including a requirement to employ only Certified personnel on an increasing basis.
- The W.C I.S.A Tree Worker Study Guide and continuing education requirements provide an excellent training foundation.
PREPARATION
- The Tree Worker Study Guide is available through the Certification office, which will include most of the material covered in the exam.
- The Study Guide also lists a number of additional references which will assist in studying for the exam, most of which is available at your library.
- Arboricultural information is constantly changing and progressing and it is possible that not all required information may be referenced in the Study Guide.
- Therefore, it is strongly recommended that the applicant broaden his study beyond the listed references.
REQUIREMENTS
- A minimum of 18 months verifiable experience in arboriculture.
- Sponsorship by an I.S.A Certified Arborist, W.C I.S.A Officer or Certification Committee member.
- Provide proof of current CPR and First Aid
- Provide proof of completion of aerial rescue
- Pass a written multiple choice examination covering:
(The test is in both English and Spanish)
- Biology 25% (includes tree identification
- Cabling 12%
- Planting 12$
- Pruning 26%
- Safety 24%
